I live outside the Adelaide Hills area, can Safe Turn asssist me?
Yes. We are happy to arrange lessons that start from your location. This includes suburbs in the CBD and school pick up and drop offs.
What do I need to bring to my first lesson?
You will require your learners permit and a copy of your Drivers Companion.
When should I have my first lesson?
You We highly recommend you have your first lesson prior to driving too many hours. This way you learn correct driving procedures first rather than potentially creating bad driving habits.
How many hours do I need driving before I am permitted to sit for my Ps?
You need to have a minimum of 75 hours logged with a supervised driver before going from your Ls to Ps. Within this 15 hours of night driving as a minimum.
How many lessons will I need before I can sit for my VORT?
This will all depend on ability and practicing correct technique. We recommend booking in 5 lessons to insure you have continuous scheduled learning. From this point we can advise learner if they are ready for VORT or require more lessons.
What do I need to do to pass the VORT?
The Vehicle On Road Test will test your skills and knowledge as a safe and competent driver. It may take up to 45 minutes to complete all elements of your test.
You will be required to demonstrate 5 slow speed manoeuvres, (move off , angle park, U-turn, 3-point turn and reverse parallel park) as well as a general drive. The general drive component will test your driving skills e.g. changing lanes, turning on and from busy roads, turning at traffic lights, negotiating roundabouts, stop and give-way signs, your interaction with other road users and the system of car control.
To pass a VORT you must demonstrate 5 slow speed manouvres and in combination with the general drive score a pass mark of 90% or more and not breach any road law during the drive. Any breach of road law will result in an immediate fail and the test will be terminated.
If you are unsuccessful your instructor will debrief you on the reasons why. A copy of the test marking sheet will be given to you detailing your performance.
What is Safe Turns cancellation policy?
You Prior lesson is to be booked and paid in advance. Any cancellation less than 48 hours of lesson will be 50% charge of the booked lesson. Any cancellation less than 24 hours will be charged full price of booked lesson.
